  Actually you might be very well right as well... seeing that these different practices dont come from a single religion but from a combination
  
  and many Chinese follow this type of syncretic Chinese religion which is a mixture of Taoism, BUddhism and COnfucianism - The ancestor worship portion is part of the confucianism teachings to respect elders, and the reincarnation would be part of the buddhism part of it.

  hmm i can't pretend to be an expert only sharing my views yeah?
  
  From what I udnerstand.. hun is soul... while PO is something that 'disappears' more easily .. something liek the 'threads' that holds the soul together. Most of the time when person dies, po is dissipated BUT sometimes it remains.. and when person reincarnate.. some have 'memories' of past life which is due to remaining of the 'po'
  
  Again not an expert on afterlife since havent die before, but perhaps u end up with 1/3 of ur soul like '1/3 petrol left to drive u to reincarnation pitstop for servicing, and a new tank and new vehicle to drive next laps?
