something wrong with singtel

there's this security flaw in singtel system..
recently my friend's ic has been stolen, then singtel called him up a few days later to confirm that 2 accounts were created under his name.
problem is. my friend didn't create those accounts..
how can someone use another person's ic and create new phone accounts? why singtel nv do anything to make illegal registration harder?? -
Recently some guy wrote to the Straits Times forum with a similar problem, which makes me wonder about the procedure for creating new phone or internet accounts. After all the IC has your photograph on it. For someone else to be able to use it to create an account in your name means that verification checks for creation of such accounts must be pretty slack or non-existent.

If the lines are being registered at Singtel Hello! Shop, I got no comments. If it's at those neighbourhood stores, then I think might be insider job.

heard of this kind of things before...
check who he lent i/c to, and it may also be fished away at pool saloons, or worse could be insider job (someone in ur family or u noe one).
those authorised dealers can accept others' i/c if they're not honest or allow themselves to be pressurised, cos as long as u can submit photocopied i/c and other relevant contract/documents to singtel, they will accept. -
I think he can call Singtel up to tell them ? Or make a police report?

ya.. the police dunno doing what.. no news from them.. for all you know, they're just putting it in a file and chucking it one corner..
see today's Today Newspaper? ah long hit a house and their neighbours too, and use their ic to sign up line.

u know what, they dont freaking care, from top(boss) to bottom(sales staff), they just let you sign up for a new plan as long as you give IC, no matter the IC is yours or not, since you sign up already, they will chase whoever on the IC given.
My fren once lost his IC, already made police report, but the guy who found the IC go singtel to sign up handphone plan, the bill sent to my fren's house. So my fren quickly go singtel to report, show them the police report that someone use his lost IC to sign up.
But after 1 or 2 years, when my fren want to go apply for singnet plan, they say he got overdue payment. And that's the case he reported earlier, so my fren have to go home and take all the documents, to prove again that it's someone use his stolen IC to sign up. And the most silly thing is that the phone bill of that guy gone up from a few hundread to thousand plus..... of cos my fren wont pay for it, and he dont have to, but how can it possible to let the bill go up after he already reported? Why didnt they terminate the account? -
this is terrible!
don't use singtel anymore, use other suscribers who will protect their customers! -

many times the requirement is that you bring along the IC; not bring your own IC to register.
