need help on Supply chain Management

  1.what does a purchase order do?
  
  2.what does a work order do?
  
  3.what does a delivery order do?
  
  4.Is the work order and delievery order found inside the purchase order?
  
  4.does the MPS module churn out all these?
  
  5.its it standard across the industry just that they use different name only?

  If you were a technician in NS, you would know.
  
  For me, I left my knowledge somewhere a long time back..
  
  I have no idea what is MPS, last time, I used SAP R/3.

  SAP also got SCM mah ( supply chain management)

  purchase order is an order given by you.. to purhcase goods.
  normally, you have purchase requisition, after approval, then it becomes purchase order.
  
  delivery order: can be outbound or inbound. inbound deliveyr order is the goods delivered to you... after you issue purchase order...
  
  work order: can be production order... many definition..
  
  4. No...
  
  4. MPS is what? some production planing MRP does churn out purchase requisition to make sure the entire supply chain doesn't get disrupted...
  
  5. i think this is standard name... except work order... can be different definition

  1) Purchase Order is the main document confirming the purchase, purely purchase items.
  
  2) Work Order should be also the main document confirming the work is issued to a company that was awarded the work.
  
  3) Delivery order is the document to prove that the supplier had delivered the products or item listed on the purchase order to the designated location. Work order is normally by completion certificate.
  
  4) Delivery Order can follow the Purchase Order number for easy reference for both buyer and supplier. No. they don't mixed.
  
  4) Someone had mentioned it. MRP etc
  
  5) Many systems with their own name, basically uses MRP etc as basic. I think
