okay tk u but when we take driving course the first thing to learn in class is highway code right? even after a few years there are revised highway code we may still have to report back to learning centre for retest/ refresher right? so if we drive in another country their highway code mayb a little different should we learn and take test orso if not matah there any how catch fine and we hav to pay ?Originally posted by mhcampboy:Well, having your own car up to KL is mainly for convenience. But of cos, cost going up KL is higher. Petrol, Toll Booth etc....
If you take a coach its cheaper... just pay your tickets. But its a hassle...cos when u reach KL u must transfer or find other means of tpts to ur destinations.
Highwaycode wise...well...nobody adheres to one.![]()
No worries la. What take test all...? Hahah... our standard is way higher than them. besides... you wont see much signs ard... except when u reach KL. but then again... all signs are suppose to be readable and understandable...Originally posted by newmanmback:okay tk u but when we take driving course the first thing to learn in class is highway code right? even after a few years there are revised highway code we may still have to report back to learning centre for retest/ refresher right? so if we drive in another country their highway code mayb a little different should we learn and take test orso if not matah there any how catch fine and we hav to pay ?![]()
no lah i am hoping i can get all the facts and see if it is really a norm to have a car to work or move around in Malaysia that's all...after all if there are any fines or damages to pay not nice also.Originally posted by fugue in C minor:in view of all the recent ''happenings", you all still dare to go malaysia meh?
ur requirements quite simple...Originally posted by newmanmback:I would like to know for those driving into Malaysia for work/ business dealings is having your own transport a must? Lets say if you are simply moving out alone from Singapore and working over at KL/ Johore for a day and are non-sales related (that's you do not require to pick up any other ppl or clients) is tthere any other cheaper way for a Company/ buisness to get you thee and back to Sg?
tk you so much hehe![]()
no lah i not goin there not even a job posting or requirements...batam...penang/kl all not interested...Originally posted by Xcert:ur requirements quite simple...
just get on a coach/taxi and get to ur destination...
no headaches with uniforms, damages and traffic rules.
i'm thinking of riding a bike along ns highway too. can rent bike anot ah?Originally posted by kopiosatu:want to go malaysia often?
take a bike. make sure you buy a big one too.
1.30RM at the toll, and the entire NS Highway is yours until Thailand.
if u need to move around in KL/Johore (state or JB? there's a difference) then having ur own transport will be gd.Originally posted by newmanmback:I would like to know for those driving into Malaysia for work/ business dealings is having your own transport a must? What is the highway code like over across the causeway for an Sg driver and chances of you getting caught up with 'unreasonable' TP or 'uniformed' personnel over there? How good is their command of the English language?
tk you so much hehe![]()
eh!! same same...!! couple of years ago..went to KL. at the highway...my friend somehow sped...and was caught by a TP on bike. we bargained here and there and hinted that we are late for something in KL... hahah we paid abt...shhhhh and he escorted us all the way... WOOhOOO!!!Originally posted by tiggersgd:if u need to move around in KL/Johore (state or JB? there's a difference) then having ur own transport will be gd.
if its only for a day max. biz trip, then u might want to re-consider if its worth driving over as u need to fulfill the 3/4 tank rule (+ other petrol expenses) and ERP/toll fee (minimal). accident rate over in JB and Johore state is rather minimal...just be more cautious when driving up north.but of course, all these should be able to recover back as its biz trip.
highway code...same as ours...u need to know what's AWAS and some other malay language road signs though. otherwise, all the way to KL is pretty smooth.
as for TP, the rule of thumb is, if u dun speed, u won't kena so easily. otherwise, if they die die want to makan u, stop, bargain abit (abeit fishing) and pay up n leave. what my fren did was to pay the TP n have them lead him all the way up north...highspeed n non-stop. u PR got to be reasonably ok.
have a safe n gd trip.
usually KL you can go by plane or coaches. there take taxi.Originally posted by newmanmback:I would like to know for those driving into Malaysia for work/ business dealings is having your own transport a must? then driving up to KL in a convoy of tinted Japanese race cars?Originally posted by ShutterBug:Driving in to Malaysia in your SIngapore registered car, is like playing Russian Roulette.
Driving in to Malaysia in your Singapore registered Mercedes/BMW/Jaguar/etc., is equivalent to committing potential suicide.
Driving around once in Malaysia in a Malaysian registered ordinary car, is being WISE.
This will attract bribe-hunting traffic police. Round you all up, call in enforcements, and demand every motorist to pay up or face normal procedures.Originally posted by LazerLordz:then driving up to KL in a convoy of tinted Japanese race cars?![]()
