According to a global survey, http://www.finfacts.com/costofliving.htm, Singapore is the 17th most expensive city in the world in March 2006. In terms of Asian cities, only Seoul (2nd), Tokyo (3rd), Hong Kong (4th), Osaka (6th) and Beijing (14th) are more expensive than S'pore.
Now, why has this global survey (reported by BBC worldservice extensively) not been picked up much by our media? What is more interesting is that S'pore was only the 34th most expensive city in the world in March 2005, and we have jumped ahead 17 places over 12 short months.
Maybe no one at the top wants to admit that life is getting not only harder in S'pore, but getting harder MUCH faster than most can cope...

1st World??
Are we REALLY "1st World"?
Or, are we just "1st World"?
I can't believe this! We are 1st World??? All these while, I thought we are still developing towards 1st World only, and not 1st World yet.
I don't know, it sure doesn't feel, look, sound, or live like a 1st World country.. I still see a lot of jobless older (above 40) people around... healthcare so expensive and not very affordable to the low income group.
