McDonald's salary rates

hi all,
just curious. does anyone know why McDonald, Burger King and KFC's rates are so low?(i think it's like S$3.50 - S$4.50)
these are very gigantic international companies and yet???!!!!

hmm actually it's low in SEA countries nia. An average fast food cashier pay in countries like Japan is 1000yen/hour (ard $15 SGD). And their set meal only costs 880yen!!!!!
In Japan work 1hour as Mcdonalds cashier can buy 1 set meal....
In Singapore work 1hour as Mcdonalds cashier can't even buy 1 set meal... haiz -

All these fast food restaurants pay their crew very low salary but they pay their office workers much more than the norm. In a way itÂ’s very sad for the youngsters but what can they do? Who else can provide them jobs or willing to employ them when they are only 15 to 18... and most of them are still studying so cannot get a full time jobs. Or the elderly 55 - 63? which they may find difficult to get a job in sg?
So no choice... either you work or someone else will. -
