CPF Special A/C

Anyone ever use your Special Account for investment? My A*A agent call me up just now invite me go Macdonald enjoy aircon and ~la~ Coke. Talk about using this a/c to invest in approve management funds. But I scare of the risk factor........

gov already give 4% for ur S.A liao... consider quite a lot to me.
if u invest, of coz will have risk.
and prepare for fluctuations.. -
If u leave ur $$ in the SA, 4% interest is guaranteed for you per annum.
However, if u wanna invest, make sure it's a gd fund. Asia funds shd be fine in the next few years.

There are a lot of CPF approved shares and unit trust oyt there.

Most Asia funds shd be good on an industry wide basis. For $30,000 to balloon to $50,000....sure why not? If u look at funds from investment houses like Shroders and First State, got even double some more!
Of course 40-60% of funds lose most of the time. Choose wisely....
U may wana wait for US Federal Reserve to announce their next step as fund prices may drop even further. Depends on a lot of factors. -

i made 3k once from a UOB managed fund. but that was more than a decade ago. you must buy it when the world economy is down otherwise it is very difficult to make money.

Just to share my experience:-
I did use my SA some yrs' back to buy a guarantted fund which earned minimum 5% returns, ie, very safe and sure-win. It has since matured and happily returned to my SA
BUT, the funds are now stuck in SA; meaning my SA balance is now way beyond the minimum required n will remain there for good.
Sorry to digress but some other "interesting" lessons I've learned abt my CPF fund are:-
* Even though your company paid your CPF by the 14th of each month, it will be credited to your a/c only about 5 days later. For my case, the 19th. So on top of the 5 days' lost interest, you may have to ensure some lost investment opportunities during that period.
* Interest on your CPF a/cs is based on the LOWEST balance of the month. Say if u happened to use all your OA balances on the last day of a month, the interest for that month will be ZERO! So plan your usage properly.
