Booking for Bankok trips?

hello!
How do you guys usually book your BKK trips? First time going.
I sourced for some F&E packages including from Airasia, Chan brothers and Tigerair, but don't know whether they are good prices.
e.g. 3D2N(over a weekend), 5*hotel (Sofitel), Air Asia,
slightly less than $700 for 2 people incl tax
is the price okay? I think it sounds a little much.
searched through the forum but no one has commented on where to get the most cost savings packages.

the price is acceptable la. since you are staying at a 5 star hotel.
but if u really wanna cheaper deals, u really have to scout for one la.
try going to chinatown or peninsula plaze. the agents there have cheap packages.... -

nahh its just that a friend told me not to book first cos should be able to get less, but then she has no idea how.

Yeah. considered cheap. true you can get lesser. but the amount wont be a vast difference. maybe a few tens of dollars. and u will downgrade to 4 star perhaps.
anyway, you flying a cheaper airline..and better hotel. so its worth it. Sofitel is a very nice hotel. its at the heart of the city....

Just go AirAsia, then they got links to budget hotels too..

yay I'm back from BKK!
need to correct my above post. Air Asia is available for boarding from Changi Terminal 1, not the Budget Terminal.
Hotel Sofitel Central Plaza is awesome! Although, just for a couple of nights' sleep most people probably don't care for too good a hotel, but just a place to sleepl shower, and deposit luggage. But if you're looking for:
1. A place with very knowledgeable staff who will give good advice on getting around
2. Yummy breakfast buffet
3. Linked to Central Plaza shopping center
4. 5min from Chatuchak market, and then u can take BTS to Siam Sq/MBK etc
5. 15min drive from airport
6. Amenities to rest your aching feet after a day of shopping (i.e. Jacuzzi near the pretty swimming pool, bathtub in room, etc)
7. and porters who will get you taxi and make sure the cabbies switch on meter
then give Sofitel a try.
But there are 2 Sofitels so make sure its Sofitel Central Plaza.
