or maybe they are plain sloppyOriginally posted by MooKu:Actually on my appointment card... ALL the handwritings are bad.
And the card has been written on by a doctor and the clerks.
Maybe it's contagious.![]()

i think it must be a secret tradition in their ranks. train them in the usage of magical glyphs!Originally posted by MooKu:warrao. then i fear for my life.luckily now not on medication.
Argghh but it's so intriguing! It's almost like every person with neat handwriting who goes to study medicine comes out with scribbly handwriting.
Maybe our medical students and doctors and dentists etc etc would like to comment on this... strange phenomenon.

the scary thing is this, some articles i read even reported that nurse are sometimes too scared to question the doctors, especially when they think the medicine prescribed are wrong onesOriginally posted by MooKu:warrao. then i fear for my life.luckily now not on medication.

wow.. sir, so late liao havent sleep ah?Originally posted by oxford mushroom:It's a stereotype la...not all doctors have bad handwriting but it is true that most of us use abbreviations, so laypersons may not understand. Medical terminology is long, many latin terms and doctors are always in a rush each day...so instead of writing 'Diagnosis: pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta' the doctor may quickly scribble 'Dx: PLEVA'...Instead of writing 'Take two Amoxicillin capsules three times a day for 1 week', it is common to write Cap. Amoxil 2/2 tds x 1/52.
Unless you understand our shorthand and abbreviations, you won't understand what we write. But that said, it is true some doctors have bad handwriting.
Now the hospitals and polyclinics are moving towards electronic prescribing, so errors arising from bad handwriting will be a thing of the past.
