Think this might have been some rubbish told to him by some tour guide. Then again, it's more likely a mistake on his part. -

I'm the owner of mondophoto.net, i just received an email asking me to contribute to this discussion.
I'm well aware of the many mistakes in my Singapore report, and well aware that some are pretty ugly (or even offensive and racist as some reader wrote recently).
Unfortunately i'll update that site in the next month because i've doing new projects on other stuff, mainly chinese.
I know there are UGLY mistakes (guards, durium, etc) but what can i say ?
I just went to Hong Kong and Taiwan before going in Singapore, so
my knowledge about Asia was quite superficial at that time.
I've only been 5 days in Singapore and tried to bring a honest review, and all i had was a small Lonely Planet's Rough Guide (80 pages ?).
And since i can't tolerate the amazing hot climate, i don't think i'll go back there soon, however i'm glad some of you enjoyed my photos and my comments.
So yeah i admit my ignorance but it was caused by many factors,
if i go in SG right now i wouldn't write all those comments that made you laugh

addendum :
i'm not rich, i just spend my few bucks on travelling instead of buying luxury cars or fashion clothes.
nor i'm an "Ang Moh from a small village coming in town" or "Hilly Billy Ang Moh", thanks, i always lived (and actually live) in big cities, much bigger than Singapore.
mispellings : i'm not british mother tongue, nor english is my first foreign language, i speak 5 languages anyway.
food : no, i've never ate shark in europe, nor we have those tropical fruits.
thai : never been there, nor in malaysia nor indonesia, my focus is mainly China and Japan.
smoking : indeed i'm pro-smoking.
"he must be dumb .. etc etc" : it would be true for someone traveling extensively in Singapore, but in few days i can't do miracles.
the photos are not taken "randomly" but carefully chosen to show some "hidden sides" of a place, or some funny things or something unusual
that you don't find in the usual boring travel guides.
for this reason i usually try to be a bit more critic of the places i visit, but it should not be mistaken with arrogance or stubborness.
however, what i wrote about SG is more or less what i still think, a nice place but indeed nothing so special for my own tastes, it's a unique place but lacks the historical depth, the art, and the panoramas i find in other places in Asia like China or Japan.
by opposite, i DO feel funny some of your comments : excuse me but honestly what you think is so cool in Singapore compared to other places ?
i mean, if you're interested in what foreigners and laowai think about SG, first of all it's not even considered a touristic place but just a business place, secondly
the few touristic attractions are no match compared to other cheaper countries and cities, third, i'm a great fan of Hong Kong and SG is no match in comparison, HK is super cool, caothic, photogenic, and panoramic.
