Eh.. Just now channel 5 screened the movie Curse Of The Black Pearl.. I wanna ask what Jack Sparrow meant by "clearly you've never been to singapore".. He said this to the soldier after saving the princess from the sea near the beginning of the show.. Can anyone who have watched the show tell me..?

In the scene after Jack saves Elizabeth from drowning, he cuts the corset from her stomach and the soldiers make the comment "I never would have thought of that". Afterwards, Jack says, "Clearly you have never been to Singapore". Pirates of the Caribbean took place in the 1720's and Singapore was only discovered during the 1800's. My friend first told me about the reference to Singapore. Well, she is laughing when she was saying that. And somemore she commented that her group was laughing in the cinema when Jack spoke the line.
I have been trying to find out about the joke behind that line. So seems that there is no joke afterall.
