When are you planning your expedition up to Mount Ophir? Sept is a bad time to go due to the monsoon season and torrential rain...Originally posted by InSidiousGG:Hello.
I am currently organising a Mount Ophir expedition for my school clubs.
Is there any travel agency you guys can recommend for the travelling to Mount Ophir and back?
Or any measures to take note of?
My first time organising overseas expeditions, Haha, need some tips.
Thanks

Juz take Cab from Segamat to Mt Ophir aka Gunung Ledang, (get a malay speaking teammate.) You will meet a guide(fairy's hut) at the top of the waterfall.Originally posted by InSidiousGG:Yeah I am a noob. That's why I am asking around.
Erm back to topic.![]()
But if you scare, can get those PuriTab tablets and dissolve them inside the water before drinking...Originally posted by FX_82:Oh ya anyway u do not need to dring so much drinking water when climbing Mount Ophir. The river's mineral water are drinkable as mentioned by the guides over there.![]()
Thanks for sharing , will be useful for my friends !Originally posted by darrenosaurus_rex:http://www.pacwest.com.sg/
No need to describe already, Ive been there more than 8 times and know the routes around those steep slopes.Originally posted by darrenosaurus_rex:no problem
anyway, mt ophir's a rather easy climb, maybe a bit hard for first-timers. travel as light as possible on the summit climb bcos of the steep section known as Killer For Climbers (KFC)
staircase climbing at the foot of the mountain was quite painful bcos we had to carry our full backpacks up that part. on your way down, pls be very careful as the staircase is wet and slippery (right next to waterfall) and the edges have been worn smooth. almost fell down once..
summit's a nice quiet spot, although it can never rival the view frm mt kinabalu summit.
tt was directed to insidiousgg since he was asking abt it.Originally posted by NotFromVenus:No need to describe already, Ive been there more than 8 times and know the routes around those steep slopes.
Been on the summit cliff face once, never wanted to try that again.
Treked from Asahan before etc.
Last time they don't have guides to charge so much. Routes was more natural markings were harder to find.
The cliff face which looks greyish from the Botak hill view of the summit on the waterfall side. Btw there is another botakhill on the side facing Asahan.Originally posted by darrenosaurus_rex:tt was directed to insidiousgg since he was asking abt it.
summit cliff face? as in went right to the edge of the summit?
most natural mtn i've been to was mt trusmadi, too bad we failed to summit due to heavy thunderstorms the night before our summit climb. heard horror stories abt other mountains from my ODAC teacher, i might want to try some of them out in the future.
Yup Lots of Rubbish and trash from very inconsiderate Campers.Originally posted by Rejected:my friend actually saw "something" near botak hill.
Must be the local Guides (probably to prevent erosion collapse of paths during rain), few years ago, the Taman Negara rangers and guides took over the caretaking , now they are very professional , charges fee .Originally posted by darrenosaurus_rex:yeah, seen the trash all over the mountains. irresponsible ppl don't deserve to be in the outdoors if they can't respect it. after all, we are merely visitors to the mountains..
btw, any idea who brought all the hay bags up to the summits to lay on the paths?
There are still leeches on some parts of the rivers...thats what i heard from the guide during christmas 2004Originally posted by NotFromVenus:Yup Lots of Rubbish and trash from very inconsiderate Campers.
I managed to see a glimpse of some wildlife like Snakes , wild chicken , hedgehog.
Due to pollution , I think there are no leeches on Mt Ophir.
Yep... There are still around near the stream before the mid hill base camp...Originally posted by FX_82:There are still leeches on some parts of the rivers...thats what i heard from the guide during christmas 2005![]()
