It really depends on location. A unit in East Fremantile cost about $365K AUD. A Unit in East Perth cost about $305K. West Perth is about $282K

When you buy a house, stamp duties must be paid. Average interest rates is about 7 percent. Are you planning to live in that house or are you planning to rent out. For units, you must pay monthly management fees of XXX dollars. ( a couple of hundred) and you have land tax to pay. -

I was planning to. However, the market in Western Australia is too hot. I'm currently looking at other states.
Assuming you do not have your PR. you must go to these fellows and state you reasons to buy a property. www.firb.gov.au. I know for sure that gov departments will take bloody ages to reply to inquiries
It would be easier to invest with a PR. -
by the way , if retirement home should be stated as a reason right, If u stay in the country for a period of time , u will get eventually get PR am i righr?

Sorry, I'm not sure about using retirement to apply for PR. you have to go to them www.immi.gov.au and research on it.
Nivida, please do you research (heaps of them and it takes a long time) before putting money in.
Areas to research in. Developments in the area, Projected population growth, Location, assessbility, Crime, Main Industries etc etc,
Leg work is very very important.
The reason I did not plan on investing Perth was that the prices went over the roof for over 2 years. If the prices cool down, it would be painful. -
