U rather be good w fren or teachers?

EEK.... My mother debating wif me on this..
Qn: You rather be good wif ur teacher, and kena condemned by peers for being a boot licker ( like my JC SC president) so that teacher can gif u good marks during prelims/exams and good comments
OR
Rather be popular wif peers by being a Kai1 xin1 guo3, but disliked( not hated la) by teachers as u joke too much in class, abit boh chap attitude liddis (btw, boh chap dun mean fail ALL exams la)
i of course prefer to be the latter lo.. Be so good wif teachers for wad?? Aft that 2 yrs in tt sch u will most prob not contact them le ma.. So wad if get good marks during prelim? Most impt is govt de exam ma.. True??
Can only choose either one la.. Cannot be perfect student like teacher like peers also like one although it's possible la k..

With teachers first.. n when i graduate with honours easy.. i become good friends with my friends.. but not if i have to be good friends with my boss first after i graduate...

where got very few? If you go top secondary schools or just normals jcs you'd be able to see it quite often already wad. In class play, play, feel shiok, then go home mug 3-5 hrs a day, throw in the clubbing, the witty (mind you not blatantly rude) responses to teachers, and some personal grown humour and viola! My sister is mix of both..why cannot? She got model pupil award, monitor and prefect all at different times. She also have a great social life

as for the teacher-marks part, i let my work speak for itself.
if ur work is good, no matter what, she cannot give u a bad grade.
and even if she does, the national exams matter.
sch results are just... blah. -
If ur teacher gives u good marks because u are on 'fren' with him/her ...

Seriously, I'm kind of both. But if I were to choose, I definitely choose the one with friends.

Hey, isn't it dumb to joke around, believeing you are with them?
It is indeed true that one day u will leave school and will eventually contact with teachers. BUT what if one day, you lose ur humor and wanted to be serious with your work, will you lose your friends too? Are they your friends just because you are funny?
But the most important factor is..will they be there for you if u need them?
Personally, I rather be close to teachers since they are generally more mature. Other than getting good grades (which is not the main point of being close with them), you can receive guidance in so many aspects of life since they are much older and thus have so much more personal experience and knowledge.
When is the last time when a teacher rejected your request? (a reqest that is reasonable la. Not like asking them to give u 100000 bucks). Eg class gathering, they definitely turn up unless they really cant.
My sister, currently just graduated from a uni, is still in contact with her JC teacher and even go for a 1-on-1 tea break. Personally, i feel teachers would be a closer friend to you in a long run. -
joke in moderation loh and dont trip on the toes of the teachers lah so easy. u nedd not poh the teacher just dont offend and learn to joke at the right time. All jokers shld knw how to gauge a teacher tolerance lvl after been in the educational sys for like 10 yrs

some people think when you are nice to teachers...its bootlicking...have they ever thought what is call courtesy and respect to your elders and educators?
