  Only terrapins sold at pet shops are allowed...
  
  No turtles or tortoises as pets, otherwise, you can consider having free meals for at least a year.

  they are endangered... and listed in CITES Appendix 2
  
  if you know and still are actively going about trying to get the tortoise, you are part of the problem and deserve to be in prison...

  MY JACK RUSSEL DOG CHEWED UP AND KILLED MY 2 STAR TORTOISES. one the flesh kana eaten up then the other one the shell all punctured and bloody and died 2 days later

  Star Turtle is an endangered species in Singapore and not allowed to be kept as pet.

  Got read newspapers ma? One of them were caught for smuggling in star turtles. And it's stated plainly in the newspapers that it is endangered and anyone wishing to keep it as a pet will risk jail term.

  or you're seen by someone with it and after all the publicity, people know... and people have become more conservation-minded these days...
  
  it's that simple
  
  besides, give the tortoise a chance to breed and have more in the wild... who knows? with enough of them in the wild, we may be able to have them as legal pets in the future
