Nope (although that would be a nice idea if this was a lateral thinking riddle). And this happened twice with two different people. And my friend suspects it's a POSB/DBS thing. He believes other banks (eg. UOB) is more secure and won't reveal the account owner's full name.Originally posted by FireIce:use full name in email address?

call the bank and ask?Originally posted by Nikar2:hi all,
just curious. if i've a POSB MasterDebit card and i use it to make online purchases(like amazon.com), the bank will send the record of transactions to me every month, right? is it possible to ask them not to send it at all for privacy reasons?
thanks!
nikar.
Originally posted by mancha:Currently POSB is giving out their "new" ATM cards.
My wife was fooled into accepting the "new" ATM card.
She was told it is their new card and now she can use it like a credit card. She can sign for purchases where there are Visa/Mastercard logos, as well as draw money from ATMs as normal.
What she did not realise is that she was issued with a debit card.
Being free of charge do not make it a special ATM card. It is a debit card just the same.
A debit card deducts the purchase amount from your account the moment the card is swiped on the terminal. The signature is just for show. It is useless, and not even necessary. I told her this is a big hole in her account and any one who has her card can deplete her account by just signing, no need to know the PIN. She is now terrified.
I wonder how many POSB account holders have been duped into accepting this "new" ATM cards.
If your account is linked to this "new" ATM card, the authorised vendor can through the Mastercard network know your name from your account number when he keys in the transaction.

just curious. when the banks send you the monthly debit card transaction letter, does it come sealed in an ordinary envelope? don't want to arouse suspicions; thanks.
see you all,
nikar.
sealed in ordinary envelope lor. dbs cards dun send, they rely on their parent to send one consolidated statement.Originally posted by Nikar2:hi all,

yes, go the branch and thumb print. or even better, while u're there, just ask them register ur signature. bring ur IC along.Originally posted by Nikar2:hi all,
thanks for all your help. i'm about to fill in the POSB MasterDebit card application form today and got a few questions. refer to the screenshot here : http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/3339/screenshotyq3.gif
alternatively, you can view the form here : http://www.dbs.com/sg/personal/cards/apply/posbdebit.pdf
what does the "signature-operated account" and "thumb-print operated account" means? anyone knows?
my posb savings account book has no signature in it(was only a baby then) and has a thumb-print instead.
so, does that mean that i have to visit a POSB branch to stamp my thumb-print?
thanks!
nikar.
If you are > 21 years old I would advise signature. Thumb print very troublesome muz go down to the branch queue up and print whereas signature is signed and submit.Originally posted by ^tamago^:yes, go the branch and thumb print. or even better, while u're there, just ask them register ur signature. bring ur IC along.
