DVD cannot play on DVD player but possible on computer?

i just bought a AKIRA DVD player. SGD49.90.
i want to play DVD "initial D" that i used to play it on my laptop.
surprisingly, it does not work. the DVD player displayed "disc error".
why? please help. -
Probably got regional codes in the DVD, and DVD player don't support.

Akira DVD player is for all regions.

your DVD disc original one or you dub one? if the disc okay quick bring the DVD player to the seller after you check your user manual...DVD player should playback most DVD with various region code.

If it only supports DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, but you put in a DVD+R, cannot read also. -

some dvd have regional codes...u have to see which region it belongs to...
i think best is to buy dvd originated from asia or primarily...singapore...
due to the regional codes thing...sometimes even the computer also cannot play the dvd... -

what liao now most DVD players can play multi-coded DVDs from various region if this guy's got a DVD player should have no prob...unless that model specify in the user manual cannot playback certain region codes.
for computer roms. (DVD read only / writer) usually (i dun know have change or not) allows 5 times changing of the regional codes (including the firstl time when you play your first DVD disc you will be prompt the message). since such ROMS are used in computers and you know they can facilitate copying of copyright materials.
so either the AKIRA model faulty, dun support the DVD regional code or the DVD-r(if its not an original disc) is burned in some other format (e.g .rm, .avi or .wma etc) like that sure cannot playback in those older DVD players connected to TVs.
until he gives more details nothing we can do about it. -
actually sometimes cannot play because the DVD player does not support some format. For an Akira which is cheap and basic, the usual format supported would be DVD Video and DVD+R/RW. If your DVD is a different format, say DVD-R/RW or DVD-VR, then it cannot be played. OR it could be that your player is not configured to play the region code

There is a VERY GOOD reason that Akira DVD Player of yours is CHEAP.
I once considered buying it at Giant but before that I told the sales person to test a 'NO REGION' dvd. CANNOT EVEN PLAY!
The BEST dvd player is made from SAMSUNG. Can play any DVDs or even pirated ones very well.
Bottomline - If the player cannot even play smoothly a cheap disc/pirated ones...then DON'T BUY IT. -
