Incredible coloured photos from the early 1900s

  Looking at all these photographs, I found it hard to accept the fact that these were taken in 1910 to 1911s. This sets of photographs were taken by a Imperial Russian photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii around the old Russian Empire at the eve of World War I

  hard to believe, but it is true. The photographer was the Tsar's official photographer. Find out more about his works here: http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/empire/
  
  However, the photo negatives and filems were not originally colored. It's coloured by a technique the photographer created. Anyway, it's hard for me to imagine that the old world is coloured...

  I remember watching this World War I documentary in which they used film footage from the time and added colour to it, which was very interesting, but the colour and focus were never as sharp as they appear in these photographs here.
