Top scientist asks sceptics to probe existence of God
LEADING scientist Francis Collins led the international Human Genome Project that mapped the 3.1 billion chemical base pairs in humanity's DNA, and is an unlikely convert from atheism to evangelical Christianity.
The 56-year-old Collins recently addressed the clash of science and religion during a conference at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
But his most complete argument for God appears in a new book, The Language Of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief, which addresses two radically divergent audiences: He asks scientific sceptics to investigate God with the same open-minded zeal they apply to the natural world. And he tells fellow evangelicals that opposition to evolution undermines the credibility of faith.
But scientists are probably the tougher audience.
According to Nature, the science weekly, 'many scientists disagree strongly' with Collins-style arguments and critics feel 'more talk of religion is the last thing that science needs'.
As a medical student, Dr Collins wondered why patients who were suffering and dying retained faith in God.
He realised that as a scientist, 'you are not supposed to decide something is true until you have looked at the data. And yet I had become an atheist without ever looking at the evidence whether God exists or not'. -

Its usually the case. When scientist found the awe that this world is made up of... They just come with no reasonable explaination to things. Therefore comes the fact that God seems still the only option. Evolution theory are still a big "?".Originally posted by hoganrock: -

Life probably came about because of the big bang. Why that one came about, scientist still aren't sure. So we're all back to square one. And, the evolutionary theory does cause lots of things to make sense but it doesn't explain everything.
The one thing that scientists can't explain is why our planet is so perfectly positioned for life. It is almost as if the earth was expecting life. For those of you that are wondering, there are two other planets with signs of failed life, Venus and Mars.
Guess the easiest one would be to trust God, i mean its not like He hasn't proven himself is it? -

likewise, since no1 proved the existance of god, thus we cannot say god created everything also.
Human are dependent by nature, thus, by creating an image of an always mighty God with unlimited power, they can seek their peace/dependence upon him..
Science cannot explain alot of the why/existance question, ya..tat's becuz out science is not tat advanced, and i doubt tat this qs would be answered even till we leave this world. maybe a few thousand years in the future, tat mystery can be resolved?
i believe in God though, just tat i dun believe he will help us, they have their own world.. -
