Yes, You have to study German language for the 1st year, I do not really know whether there is any changes to the system. My lecturer told me so, but that was many years ago. once you get on with the langauge, then you will be allow to continue. He also told me education is free but the living expenses is very high... and EXP..
Why Germany? Are you stduying Engineering? that's what I know they are strong and good at... because I also study under such system in SG. before...
Beautiful country visit won't mind going back if I have the $$$ to tour... on my own... -

nice place but depends on which part you head to...

Studying in Germany aint free anymore, but its much cheaper compared to studying in Singapore. Around €500 per sem if im not mistaken. Even then, the students here are protesting against having to pay for their fees.
And its important to learn their language first in the first year cos lessons in subsequent years will be tested in German. -

German culture has much to be desired: efficiency and organization is their hallmark, something our culture totally lacks. Learning an european language is also an added advantage, since Singapore is beginning to open up and attract european businesses and joint ventures.
And for those ignorant few, most Germans speak English. As part of standard european cirriculum, they are obliged to learn native German and two other european languages; and most choose English as one of them.
