how to prevent lips from breaking?

without wearing lip gloss? cos now i working inside aircon room drink lots of water but lips still feel v dry. think its cracking soon. any1 got any solutions?

For a period when my lips crack badly, I had to apply lip products with shea butter. Somehow that helped the skin and now I am less prone to cracking -

use aloe vera lip balm. -
Neutrogena one quite good but I found Mentholatum's Cool Water Lip Balm better. Not as niam niam as the former and the minty feeling is a plus.
