the "fire alarm" outside the old shophouses along ann siang hill
it is a wooden baton and a wok
it is in a olden days letterbox-like case outside the shophouse...
there's a note there saying tts the fire alarm for the neighbourhood in old singapore.....
someone will take the baton and hit the wok to make noise to alert the ppl of fire or other emergencies........
i came across it with during a field study of the area's buildings...
a couple of years later, i went back, wanting to take a pic of it but then it's gone.....tt stretch undergoing some urban redevelopment.....
a pity tt i can't capture it on film but it was a good experience to have at least seen it -

The old market cum Hawker Centre at my old neighbourhood in Macpherson.Just less then 5 metres from my blk..
Was torn down few years ago when upgrading.. Miss the good food there.. Cause they selling food very long so there is a standard.. hai.. miss the food.. dunno where they shifted to..
