Any one got problem to login "msn"messenger today?

  My Windows Live Messenger isn't working, but my Windows Messenger is.
  
  But it counts for nuts when almost everyone else is having login problems.

  For those who have a problem, WORRY NOT, I HAVE THE SOLUTION!
  
  You can kiss and offer to have my babies after you have logged in.
  
  Now, go to START, click on run, then type c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
  
  Open with notepad.
  
  at the end of the last line, (which should be 127.0.0.1 localhost)
  
  leave a line beneath it, then type in 65.64.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
  
  then press enter, then type in 65.64.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net
  
  then save the file. Exit your MSN messenger and re-open it. If u entered the text correctly you can now log in. Good luck!
  
  EDIT: Oh yah. Please remember to remove extra text from the notepad file within two days from now. If not something screwy will happen to your computer. REMEMBER HOR. I accept no responsibility if your computer conks out.

  Maybe its because of the delgates that came in today.... all in their hotel rooms using wi-fi or at cybercafe logging into MSN and jamming ours

  nothing will happen. the lines of code simply ignores non-working or non-existent DNS packets sent by the server but instead to explicitly specify the correct IP to connect to.
  
  but since we wun noe wat kind of patching MS is doing (and taking so long ) it's better to switch back once the exercise is over.

  arh? didnt know lah, im not good with all this technical stuff. A good friend provided me with the info, so i just thought to share it with all those who KPKB cannot log in. LOL.

  You can refer to this site too http://www.mess.be/
  
  1) Go to your WINDOWS FOLDER
  2)In ur WINDOWS folder, Find a folder named SYSTEM32
  3) Then, find a folder name DRIVERS.
  4)Find a folder called ETC and open it.
  5)Inside the folder got a file called "hosts"
  6) Right click it and untick read only.
  7)Then, double click the "hosts" file and open it with notepad
  (alt+p)
  Under the 127.0.0.1 local host,
  Add this line in 65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com and it will look like the picture above.
  9)Then close notpad and click SAVE
  10)Then right click "hosts" and tick Read-Only and you are done
  
  Finally you can log in msn Smile Hope that helps..
  
  I using windows xp service 2 and it works.. For service 1 i am not too sure =|
