i dread picking colors for painting. My house was recently repainted too and it was such a headache choosing colors that would go with the furniture yet not look too overpowering or dark or too pale.
Have you thought of maroon? I think it'll go well with your woody floor and bed and contrast the blue sofa (not sure what blue yours is but i'm assuming it's dark navy blue).
Actually you can have three colors for your walls - the ceiling the lightest shade, 3 walls a darker shade, and another color for another wall. My room looks like this.
