ABIGAIL – THE MAN WHO BECAME A WOMAN
Cast: Abigail Chay
From a young age, Abigail knew that she was a girl trapped in a boy’s body. Like other young girls, she would fall in love with boys and secretly play with her mother’s makeup. But she would always tell herself that she was a boy and those were bad feelings and wrong things to do. She knew fully well that as the only son and only child of a traditional Chinese family, she had the duty to carry on the family line. She tried dating girls and even went through National Service. But at the brink of adulthood, she decided it was time to seek professional help. She was somehow given the impression that she could be a ‘hermaphrodite’, case of Genital Anomoly. She decided to undergo sex change and confessed to her parents her desire to become a woman. Her decision was not an easy one. Her parents were infuriated and devastated upon hearing the news. But their love for their child shone through in the end, and Abigail’s father funded Abigail’s sex-change operation with his insurance payout. Today, Abigail still lives together with her doting father. She is hopeful that she will be happily married to a man who will love her unconditionally and take care of her family
