DVD sound quality on 16 bit sound card

I am still using a creative live bought in 1999. Have DVD drive recently bought,
on this sound card, am i getting the best sound out of the DVD movies? -

for normal user i dun see the point in having an expensive and edge of technology sound card except to satisfy your ego of "although im only able to hear the same thing as your loaya soundcard but heh, i have a kick ass sound card and you dun! now bow to me sucker!" -
16 bit..-__- too old liao. i think the sound card cannot read some of the signals ba..

ceartive live was supposed to be like great invention in 99 . is it correct?
