Returning favours to Buddha

  Hi all..
  
  Not sure if this is a good avenue to ask as I know, not all here are buddhist. However, for those who know the answers, pls let me know.
  
  Have anyone heard of the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok, the four faced buddha at a corner of the road besides Hyatt? I udnerstand that once your favour is being fulfilled, you are suppose to go back to return favour btu my question is how to return the favour correctly?

  Usually, people give thanks at temples by praying and giving a donation.
