But it has been 7 days and I still havent receive the registered mail....is that normal? Im talking about registered mail being sent by a local in singapore.Originally posted by ditzy:It takes roughly 3-4 days, if sent by govt boards, it takes even longer, but its not the post office that's at fault in that case.
Registered mail going overseas takes longer, possibly up to 2 whole weeks, they will tell you coz it needs to be registered. When I was overseas and recieved registerered mail, the post people were so sloppy, they didn't make me sign for it, just chuck it in the mailbox, too much!!!
You can trace registered mail only locally, if its registered mail in and out of singapore, sorry no such service, And I think you have to pay a little premium to make it traceable.
Then you have to check with the sender if it has been sent out yet. Sender will be given a tracking code. Ask for the tracking code and the post office can find it with ease. Don't think the sender has placed insufficient postage though. If the sender indicated a return address, it will go back to him if the recieving address is wrong. But if both addresses are wrong then we know where it goes.Originally posted by shade343:But it has been 7 days and I still havent receive the registered mail....is that normal? What if the address written by the person was wrong but valid?
Sender said he lost the tracking code so how?Originally posted by ditzy:Then you have to check with the sender if it has been sent out yet. Sender will be given a tracking code. Frankly if you asked me, sender can tell you he lost tracking code, I think you've been snooked.Originally posted by shade343:No lah, I mean its real...cos I made some online purchases recently, than the thing has yet to arrived.![]()
If the mail happens to be some fragile or very expensive items then its worth it to spend time to hand deliver it to the person but if it is not then, its ok to use the registered mail service as its 99.9% safe most of the timeOriginally posted by redstone:I ever wanted to send registered mail to someone. After some thinking, I finally hand delivered it to her house.
I mean genuine mistakes do occur and sender told me that he threw away the receipt cos he had no means of keeping it.Originally posted by ditzy:Frankly if you asked me, sender can tell you he lost tracking code, I think you've been snooked.![]()
did that for the past 5 days. He said that the post office will check the thing for him and call him back. He is going back to the post office to ask for a copy of the transaction number. But I wonder why the post office didnt give him the number in the first place...Originally posted by Master -_-:where's the threadstarter? Busy calling and redialling the seller?![]()
The post office always gives the RA (Rgistered Article) number to the sender of the registered mail...something fishy going on hereOriginally posted by shade343:did that for the past 5 days. No means of keeping it? Was he wearing short shorts with no pockets? Wallet ran out of space? No receipts pass his main door?Originally posted by shade343:I mean genuine mistakes do occur and sender told me that he threw away the receipt cos he had no means of keeping it.

Provided you can get in contact with him first, but from the reply above, it would seem to be a very difficult task.Originally posted by shade343:Lets say the sender stopped correspondece with you, is there any form of legal redress?
no need to pay extra to make it traceable overseas.Originally posted by ditzy:It takes roughly 3-4 days, if sent by govt boards, it takes even longer, but its not the post office that's at fault in that case.
