Why Singapore cannot eat dog meat..

...but we are allowed to eat other sorts of meat like Mutton and Beef?
I don't believe its because eating dog meat is cruel.
It's equally cruel to eat beef- the cows have to be slaughtered all the same as the dogs for human consumption!
So why the ban on dog meat?
IS it due to health issues?

Because dog meat is a very expensive delicacy that not many will afford so there is no market.
Think about it... a Shih Tzu is $1500. German Shepard is $2000.
Compare that to a cow, a cow is $2000 but you get much much more meat than german shepard. -
too many breeds of dogs, and dogs go around roaming, like cats, mice, etc, dunno eat what junk food....you dun see Cows roaming around cities eating scraps right?
