Tortise wun bite you unless you abuse them or kar jiao them . I used to rear a tortise for many years , It was always alone and when i tried to get a another tortise to keep it company , i dunno why it diead . But anyway this tortise seem to be hyper active ley always crawling out of its ice cream box which is also his home and crawl ard my kitchen cabinet . Untill one day it decided to go go down to my flr and the first time it drop to the flr , it got such a fright that it peed on the flr ans stay there motionless till my mum put it back into its home . But the 2nd time it try agn , it somehow not afraid liao the moment it touch the flr with a thud , it immediately crawl ard and always hide under the washing machine . And it always crawl towards me when i not looking n after it see me looking at him , he will faster crawl back below the washing machine . This continue for 3 years untill 1 day my sis release it in a park and my sis tell me , it keep crawling abt in the paper bag when she was in the bus . And then when she release it into the pond it swim ard for a small cricle then went back to her looking at her . Then my sis tell it to swim off that " he " was free to go already . Then the tortise look at her for awhile more then swim off without going back to her . When i think of it , i tend to miss his attempt in " assasinating " me lol . Too bad i dun have its pic , its shell was always white in colour dunno why .

Coz small tortoise sh!t everyday, so u need to change water or it will very smelly, just like changing babes diaper.
Dun forgot this animal will grow very fast, one day they will grow as big as A4 size, and then they will born eggs(the egg is oval shape).
This is my experince.
I feel sorry for my tortoise, cos I didn't take care of them nicely, I love them when they are small, but when they grow big, I feel trouble some, at the end 1 of my tortoise infected some kind bateria, the eye blinds, later he can't see, can't eat...then die, left 1 female tortoise, she was healty, but she stop eating after the husband die, so later on she just follow her husband went to tortoise heaven.
Before that they did lay eggs, but no tortoise come out, the eggs dry up at the end.

Pardon me for being KPO but how does tortoise mate? They mount each other from the back like dwarf hammies? Hmm... since they move so slow does that mean their mating period is also very slow? A slow motion compared to dwarf hammies?

Last time I play with my tortoise, I put them in the living room, if u chase them, sometimes they can run very fast, they love to hide under the sofa, behind the door....... so when they mate, they will do secretly. -
You are not answering my question. How you know they do secretly? It mean you let them roam ard the house tat's why you cannot observe their love making ritual mah. To know why animal species can continue on from generation to generation there muz be some mating process followed by newborn in the cycle. I observe this and curious to know lor. Wow totoro u really gd sia . me i ony keep 1 tortise so never any eggs . But i really would like to try my luck in hatching 1 ley. Anyone tortise lay egg can give me 1 or 2 ? . I agree tortise really can run fast kekekeke , cos mine always run to hide when it see me looking at him lol . Damm now i really got the urge to get another tortise to rear .
