Dont be so close minded, like ordinary protests will disturb the peace. We are not talking abt demonstrations, but peaceful protests which are held reguarly in HK, China, Indo, everywhere else in the world. The only violent demonstrations are mainly in Europe, esp France and UK. -

Singapore disallowed it, they go Indonesia.
Anyway, glad that they are off Singapore. I don't think Singapore hospitals have enough beds and manpower to handle if violent protests break out here. This is perhaps the best decision ever made by the Singapore government. -

I certainly do not want protesters messing up our malls and disturbing the peace here and causing massive traffic jams etc because ultimately the repairs will come from us taxpayers

here, we have innocent drug couriers getting hanged, while ang moh double murderers getting jailed. Sg males have to serve NS, and FTs replace us in our absence. Fares are ever increasing even though the transportation companies are posting increasing profits.
Btw how does rising fuel costs affect transportation companies? Does MRT run on petrol? Morever, Buses and taxis run on diesel, and the price rise for those are not that steep.
Here in SG, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Its a widening income disparity. Thus not so well off sporeans are driven to study hard in school to break out of their vicious cycle thus causing the infamous rat race and mugging in SG schools as there is no other alternative for them.
Also, since SG is so small with such a small population, entrepreneurship in SG is not effective or useful as the target market is always too small.
Im still surprised theres been no curfew imposed on school children below 16 or 18 at night, like for 12 am (or 3am) to 6 am. I thought the govt would have done that by now, not too far off i suppose. Wont that help keep the peace?
And how many other countries are there where protesting is banned? I think N Korea is one of the few. -

Go give a thought, how many protesters are really from Singapore? If so, how many genuinely want to protest? And not some trouble making youngsters who use the situation to create trouble..
Maybe abit selfish here, but hey.. Would you be happy if i go to your neighbourhood and create havoc leaving you affected and leaving you to clean up the mess?
At least it gives trouble makers no chance.. -
Perhaps we should loosen up alittle, let the people exercise alittle responsibility for ourselves instead of the govt. spoon-feeding us all the while.
