Job Market: Now is the right time to hop?

Some people commented that the market is picking up. What do you think?

some of my friends from NTU/SMU
commented that my pay is abit low so shd change another job..
they still in their fantasy world lah...
kept thinking that degree holders now come out confirm more than $2.5k
the market is good but boss would rather pay a bit lower to get graduates from poly loh...
depends on what experience n skills u have lah..
if an offer comes that is good
den i see no reason not to hop

Which market are you referring to?
Lots of news lately on the US housing market not doing well(actually some use harsher words to describe it). US is the world economic engine. Their consumers have great spending power and is the reason why Asia can have export oriented economies.
Consumers' spending power come from their property value going up and re-mortgaging. Now that property valuation going down......interest rate going up.......lots of people will have less spending power.
Worst still more will default and this may have impact on the financial institutions like banks and hedge funds.
Singapore is exporting too but have diversified to China and Europe. But exports to China maybe be components going into consumer devices that are exported back to US.
Big rain clouds ahead people. My wild guess. Most likely wrong.
So job hop all you want. I wish you the best.

I feel it is fine to job hope.. economy picking up mah.. feel it will sustain.. anyway I feel my pay is too low after so long it is time to Jump companies..

No harm applying, my sis was jobless for 4 mths, then got a good paying job in estab. firm, got to travel to Holland free for 2 weeks training

the speech which pm said wanted to encourage more skilled and unskilled workers to singapore, do we have a higher pay when more cheap labour very hardwork type are coming in to take over our jobs?
