LV or Mont Blanc

1st off, I think the general perception of this forum is that LV only has one design - canvas monogram, or just monogram.
LV has alot of more designs, the real question is that are you willing to pay for it.
I got a LV wallet as a birthday present about 2-3 years ago, their Nomade collection. It is made of seamless calf leather with a very simple LV embossment on one side. Smooth and very soft - exactly like quality calf leather. Very classy and old world touch especially now that it has seasoned nicely. So Mont Blanc wallets haven't come across as 'quality' feel to it and the cheaper LVs also suffer from that. I think this Nomade design is about 600-700.
Everybody has different tastes. It is up to you.
One thing I pay attention to wallets is the card slots. Most of them got the 'cheapo' feel of layers of leather, ie. typically 3 layers of leather will be sewn/glued on top of each other to make card slots. LV so far does the more delicate one slot on the same piece of leather. It requires proper cutting on the same piece of fine leather. Not sure if this goes for the cheaper range, but I enjoy this touch on my wallet.
If you want something unique, try looking for stingray leather wallets. Most of them will feature a bump at a centralised location to show that it is from the top/head of the stingray. -

On another note, I am looking for alligator skin wallet. I'll let you know if something catches my eyes.
