how to save an image from a video?

  does any1 knows? i tried playing the video on vlc and using the "alt & Print Screen" method, after pasting it into Paint, i get a blank black screen.
  are there any method to save images? VLC player dun seem to have the save image function

  I use this program called Cyberlink PowerDVD which has a function to print screen from videos or DVDs or VCDs. Keke.

  you can save the picture by right clicking the media>snapshot.

  VLC player have a snapshot function..

  when a video file is being played, u go to the menu VIDEO->SNAPSHOT
  
  if u 1 2 save an image from the mpeg, pause the video n click on the SNAPSHOT

  open it with the player. if ure watchin from a webpage, go check source, find the video source, open with wmp or summin. print screen
