Hopefully you passed your NAPFA, if not you'll have to enlist 6 to 7 weeks earlier. And should you pass your NAPFA, you'll ORD a few days earlier than the rest.
There is no confinement, and you get to book out on Friday evenings. You've to book in by Sunday nights.
Shave your hair first? If not you have to spend and queue for the barbers to shave for you inside. Bring some basic toiletries. Bring a small bag and some undergarments and maybe an alarm clock. Handphones can be brought in. You'll book in and out in uniform.
BRTC has moved to a new camp. My time was still the old one. If you manage to pass your NAPFA before going in, life will be easier. They serve very good food, catered. And unlike BMTC, you're still on the island itself. So guess life would be less depressing? But actually I felt that freedom was so near, yet so far?
If you want to strive and make something of this NS life, you can consider getting in Fire-fighting or ERS course, or even be a Medic. ERS is a specialist course, requires at least 5 'O's, Higher Ni-Tec or a Diploma.
Fire-fighting course will take up 3 months, ERS course will last 6 months.
At least you get to experience something that is more operationally real, and you get to deal with life-saving situations. If you are lucky.
Anyway, they offer very good allowance if you manage to get yourself in. A Fire-fighter's allowance is equavalent to a SAF-NSF Sergeant's pay. ERS's is equavalent to a SAF-NSF Officer's pay.
Uh-huh, think about it.
