we are already late for climate shift if i am not wrong.
And even when that happens, technolgy that we have now would ensure that at least 10% of men would survive. (saw this somewhere last time)
And i think we are late for a direct hit from some asteriod or something too.

as for the intelligence machines taking over the world, it's impossible. i dun think there's a person or organisation that is smart enough can invent a robot that can really think and realise robot is a inferior "being" compared to their human god and nuke us.

Wait for a Star to collapsed. Chances are: a black hole will be created.
A black hole can do this: it suck everything into it.
So... if that happens, our planet either get sucked in and we die crushed into it OR the black hole suck in the flow of "time" and before we even get crushed, time slowed down to a near stop because time is no longer relavant to everything in the area of effect around the black hole and walah! Everything "stopped".
I dunno how to explain how time can be sucked into da black hole and how we can FREEZE for aeons before we die... dat 1 too chim for my mini bwain~~~
BUT I am a sci-fi freak!!! I watched all sci-fi related shows, dramas, movies.

its extremely possible that insectoids would dominate the planet after humans are wiped out. First were the plant life billions of years ago, then the reptiles like dinosaurs ruled, after which it is our turn to take control of the earth. but insectoids alone are more adaptable and organized than mammals and reptiles combined, with ants the most intelligent of all insectoid species. the ants have exoskeletons, allowing them to survive drastic shifts in climate, and they have a highly-structured hiearchy which allows each individual to remain useful to the colony. there are no riots, no rebellions. everyone obeys the queen. you have to admit that the ants are much more evolved for survival than humans are. and that ants would rule the earth after humans are gone. in fact, the combined weight of all ants is abt the same or double (im not sure) than that of all humans added together. ants are the most populous insectoid species on this planet with trillions and trillions of them.Originally posted by numby:wonder will dere comes a day when humans will totally be wiped out and become extinct, just like the dinosaurs...

There is no way of knowing based on current science tech humans possessed. 1. Suck in EVERYTHING and crush all in it.
2. Suck in everything and IF survive the initial crushing and go through the event horizon. Everything is reversed. Like time warp, plane distortion, etc, etc.
3. Suck in flow of time and everything with relations to time will come to a halt in the area of influence.
As for your question. I cannot answer coz I do not noe dat deep and its only theories. There are posibilities there is an exit OR the black hole can lead to another plane of existance. The only thing is: what can withstand the crushing impact, the black hole generates, long enough to go through it? -
The Sun is in its 2nd stage. If you waiting for it to "burn out" (which could well be trillions of yrs later...), do note the Sun WILL expand... and will destroy all in its path (yesh, including our small mother Earth...)while expanding into the 3rd stage. Robots that are smarter than humans deciding they don't want us around anymore and decide to stab the crap out of us and/or just launch all our nukes at us.
any student of com science/AI will tell you ... we're still at a very primitive stage in this field .... those doomsday hollywood scenarios are at least 500 years away ... if they'll ever come ....
