  to the question of maple beefing up their graphics
  ans: i'd most probably play other games anyway because in maple there's no blood, gore ect like gta
  ans to if i'm an outcast in the class
  ans: No,i'm not an outcast because i'm the com expert and they consult me if they got com problems and they respect it that they cannot make me play maple although how hard they try.

  asn:yes tried it before and runs smoothly withoout lag. but most of the time i play GTA san andreas on pc or flight sim X(no lags.

  maple pales in comparison to many online rpgs like world of warcraft or guildwars. the training to level up can be extremely boring and mindless at times.
  
  but what really makes this game shine is how you can interact with other players and friends (the chat system is fantasic). i play maple because i get to interact online with most of my friends... and interact with other players online. i got closer to a lot of my friends through maple, and i met my ex-classmate on maple too haha.

  Like I said, it's mainly due to 2 factors.
  
  1) It's free.
  2) Lots of people play it.
  
  You were right about the mindless bit though. I attempted to play MapleStory 3 times, but ended up quitting all 3 times, within an hour.
  
  First time:
  I created an account, went to the character creation screen, saw how retarded the female hairstyles were and quit.
  
  Second time:
  Wanted to try playing again, but I forgot my username and password, and I couldn't register again under my IC number, so I quit.
  
  Third time:
  Faked an IC number, went in, created a character (she had such short hair!), then about half an hour later while hitting monsters, I thought to myself "This is so mindless." and I quit.
