Insurance Agent who Disappeared when seeking claim

Just to warn all of you out there if you are thinking of buying insurance. My agent told me outright that SHE IS NOT IN CHARGE OF HANDLING CLAIM & THUS SHE SHOULD NOT BE CALLED when I wanted to make a claim recently.
When she wanted me to buy policy, she even visited my house to get my signature. And she is still earning commission from my yearly premium! -
is it because she is no longer an agent?

they are like MLM people ... and are often one and the same anyways ...
I only buy insurance from relatives .... -
They might not be working as insurance agent for the rest of their lives. -
the insurance line has a high turnover.
franky, sometimes even relatives cannot be trusted. such is the world!!! -
She is still an active agent, but call her only if you want to take up new policy.

maybe there should be a major overhaul of the way commission are earned. Instead of giving to the agent a majority of the commission during the first 2 years,
i) the commission should be spread out over the years and
ii) the clients should be allowed to switch agent so that agents who provide poor service will be weeded out -
For your info to part i) there are singapore based smaller insurance companies that practised that. That is why not a lot of insurance agents wanna work for them. As for part ii) AFAIK only when they resign then can do a reassignment? For some smaller companies there is a form called reassignment which allow the customer to switch agent.
In general companies that has a lot of agents selling policies for them only spell one simple truth, the commission structure are very attractive. Get used to the working world. No good money who wanna work for employer rite?

Have you called up the insurance company to check with them?
If it's not her responsibility, then maybe you ask who can you speak to regarding claims lor..
and if she's just cant be bothered, then change agent or change to customer service department lor. -
Not surprising. My 2 agents behaved this way too. Not that I want to make claims. I need to find out information from them but they told me to call the agency myself. One agent is my uncle (my father's brother) while the other is my friend of 12 years.

I heard if u want to terminate an insurance policy, make sure u are not paying advance payment for the premiums or stop all payment... wait till the next premium payment date to terminate.
Example now u are not happy with the insurance policy or ugently need money and u want to terminate immediately. THEY WILL NOT RETURN ANY ADVANCE PAYMENT U HAVE MADE.

To put it more bluntly who wanna entertain a policy that one has no commission to gain? I tink insurance companies shld come out measures to counter such practices. Give money to those who handle resign staff customer policies and then I tink some common complaints we have of customers will be answered better. -

my agent job hopped and asked me and my sis to change our policies under his sister's name. But we didn't, so we are now under the charge of the customer service department. -
