im studying operations management on my own:
theres a few things i dont know
1. If the company system do not cater for finte decision makings capablity
meaning telling you all these,
a. Which jobs going to be late
b. how late they are going to be
c. are they important jobs, or for important customers
d. what revised delivery dates can be promised
e. how all these would change if the Jobs were undertaken in a different sequence
do i create my own excel spread sheet, do my own routing and sequencing, input/output control and push / pull schedules and then link them to the company MRP system and inventory database?
certain outdated MRP2 systems does not cater for capacity constraints also. as they use fixed LT for shopfloor processes. and conditions changes, so do the lead time, so, the material MRP brought in may either be too early or too late.
2. What kind of info the shopfloor is needed to feedback to the system daily, in order for the plant system to capture capacity status accuaretly?
