How small is the small river? And how deep?
Are the currents fast and treacherous? Or gentle and calm?
Are there dangerous animals in the river, such as pirahnas or crocidiles?
Are the river banks relatively dry and firm, or muddy and slippery?

unless you're trained, pole vaulting sounds a little risky. You could injure yourself during landing, or worse, lose your grip or have the bamboo pole collapse under you, and fall into the river. Then again, if you're desperate it just might work.
Tying yourself with the rope and trying to swim across is propbaly the best idea as long as the current isn't too strong, and you're a good swimmer. Just make sure the rope is long enough to let you get to the other side before jumping in!!! -

You happened to be on a sky scaper at city hall and it got on fire... so you ran up to the top of the floor as you can't get down.... So then at this momment you found 3 thing.. But you can only use one. Which would you use to save your life...!?

chop a notch by the side... one for your left one for your right... then step on it walk like a tall man with a wooden leg.... tat way you'll walk across and not get wet....
Some more its fastest way then building anything else... ok beside hugging it and paddle across... that way you still get wet... -
