what do you guys think of Japan?

Hey guys,
Just wondering what you thought about Japan and the whole shrine business. i mean after you retire or whatever you can visit the place all you want. but as the president, worshipping somewhere that has war criminals is not helpful.
on the other hand, japan seems like a really cool place. anyone know some goods sites on japan?
I found a relatively new site called "Daily Nihon" at www.dailynihon.com that is awesome, it features a lot of information on stuff you can't find anywhere else.
So, let's hear it! -

Japan reminds me of Nikon, Konica Minolta, Sony, TOYOTA, Honda, Nissan, Yamaha Musical Instruments & Motorbikes, and much more that we all buy and use with whole hearted trust.
But when I think of Singapore, my own country, in my mind I can only see one very loud image - the PAP insignia! This brings me back to square one; feeling bored and dull again.... -

it's true about the gritty stuff under the surface...u have kids whoring themselves out to get the latest fashions. and some parents don't even care. i mean who would let their daughter just go out there and do stuff like that?

I like Japan for the following:
a. four seasons
b. beautiful cities - Kyoto, Hiroshima, Hokkaido..
c. beautiful babes
d. liberal AV market - wow
e. high pay, high spending power (although I go there I feel super poor)
f. technology innovation
g. design - their emphasis on quality, service & packaging - makes shopping a pleasant experience.
h. their courtesy
i. obsession with freshness - reference their sashimi
What I don't like abt Japan
a. underneath their smiles & bows, you feel they are not that sincere
b. language - cos i am not conversant with japanese
c. the way they treat woman (this is related to their liberal AV mkt, chicken & egg)
d. odd cultural / behaviors at times - just look at the twisted plots in their AVs, mass suicide, etc
e. food - not as much variety as Singapore
f. smoking seems to be the national pastime -
