What's embarrasing about not being able to drive you say? It's like not able to swim!! Or not able to ride two wheel bicycle!! Important life skills. Just in case when war happens, it can be crucial.
For instance if war happens, you can jump into a river and swim. What if you can't swim? Die.
Or when bombs drop, you can save yourself by quickly riding your bicyle. What if you only know how to ride 4 wheel bicycle used by your 5 year old nephew? You'll be too slow. Die.
Same with driving cars. -
