How to block unwanted (harassing) mobile phonecalls?

Hi,
Does anyone here have any ideas on how to block unwanted phone calls?
Is there any kinda service, handphone type or software (hopefully free) that will enable a person to blacklist harassment calls?

i played one night in beijing to this irritating caller.
he/she stopped after tt.

i actually asked my friend to program a Java program to detect strings of numbers and make it into a Symbian program...
he said "tomorrow, tomorrow" until we ORD and lost touch... -
If you're using a symbian 60 phone (not OS9.1), look for blackballer app.

just cancel their calls or just tell them to stop calling you lor.

free incoming call, so i just answer lor & put on loudspeaker until the caller tired to trying.

ur model is wat? if can assign ringtone hor, just assign his number with a slient ring tone lor. I always do that to people who I hated to receive their calls. they call million times, i also cant hear anything.
but if private number then no choice but to call singtel for assistance to track down the number.
aiya. warn that person u will call police. this will freak most sickos out. -

its those normal non-pda phones dat sometimes dun even sarport java dats the problem. -
track the timings of calls.
call up ur service provider.
u can either choose to block all incoming calls..
or make a police report, bar that particular number and that harasser will be given a warning.
for me, i juz off my phone. -
the threadstarter should elaborate what type of calls he has been getting...
then from there we can help him out. haha.
if it is those Bank and Insurance type ppl... you can just be firm and tell them off nicely. if they insist, you remind them once again that professionalism is a requirement of their job and that you will not hesitate to bring the matter up.
No need to be nasty to them.
if it is those "free sex" type of call.. either take the offer or ignore them. -
The call divert function is the most wonderful tool a mobile phone can offer. If you know how to use it properly, it can be used to your advantage, I use it to play pranks.

Actually my situation is like this....sometime ago, my phone rang and I picked it up....some strange guy over at the other end kept haranguing me in an unknown non-English language (accent sounds like an Indian but could also easily be just a Chinese guy sprouting nonsense....but I'm not sure). I kept telling him to stop calling me, but the calls kept coming (and the caller ID didn't pick up anything....)....freaking irritating, I think I may just change my phone number....but if there's another way, I will try it out first before wasting money on buying a new number.

Diverting function in mobile phones are not there for fun...
If not, just say "Hello, this is the police station. How do I help you?"
I've got enough prank calls so I ended up using this line a lot, its effects are superb. -

even if you divert your calls (either to your mailbox or another no.), it will not help. cause most of the time, calls which are not answered will be diverted and thus causes unwanted conveniences. -
