Using pregnancy as an excuse is really really lame. What has being pregnant got to do with national service?
And worse, you girls liken that housework and taking care of kids is the sole responsibility of womenfolk? This is utterly nonsense. Increasingly, every household will find that the responsibility of bringing up kids is the joint responsiblity of husband and wife. Joint responsibility. This should be same for national service. Join responsibility across both genders. -
I think you won't have a proper discussion about female conscription in SGForums.
Better just leave it to the military boards or other places with older median age.
All you will get here is not much of reasonable discussion, and mostly, will degenerate into emotional chestbeating. -
The main gripe for some about NS I'm sure isn't the physical suffering anyway. It's the time that is lost.
But anyway, if really want, just send the girls to do some social work at nursing homes or hospitals la for 2 years. That way they can learn some useful skills, and at the same time discipline, some of em really do need it anyhow -
Too bad you're living in Singapore as a Singapore citizen. Being a male in Singapore, it's an expectation the government expect of you to serve NS. If you don't want, move to aussieland, where NS is voluntary.
