Hainanese is small group yes.. but it is really strange that in prmary sch my best friend is hainanese (who currently married hainanese), in secondary sch my best friend also happens to be Hainanese (but didn't marry hainanese), my close colleague at work is hainanese, my brother married another hainanese, and some of the nicest ppl I know turn out to be fellow hainanese!
I mean I didnt know they are hainanese before i think they are nice la.

Actually teochew and hokkien are very similar and yet different. The pronunciation of some words are different and base on the tone, it seems teochew sentence speak out is more refined and got class as compared to hokkien which is more crass and belong to the working class.
I tink this gotta do with the ppl who arrive in spore tat time. Hokkien ppl usually do rough jobs so their language more rough hahahhaha... now in SAF hokkien swear words invention never fail to amaze me -

Go home = Ke1 lou2
Anyway side track abit.... If u all got chance to try in a xin hwa restruant, can try the xin hwa mian xian, its very nice! -
