Ya, confirm safe.
In fact the dog can help your kid develop more.....errr....like skills or empathy or what loh.
Also good for the kid immune system.
There is a simple way to check whether a breed is violent/ agressive or not, even if you're not an expert.
Simply, see whether the breed is cute or not.
If the breed is cute, confirm it's safe to be around, including for kids.
If the breed is scary, the breed is agressive.
This is because humans have deliberately interfered in dogs breeding, and make so much alteration and conditioning.
For instance, maltese, poodle, shihtzu, and golden retriever, are cute breeds for companionship.
Meanwhile, german shepard, pitbull, rottweiler, and doberman, are scary looking breeds for guard duty, which may on some occasion turn violent on kids.

My neighbour has a golden retriever who makes more noise than its neighbour german shepard. Yeahyeah blame their upbringing.

Seems like you are really concerned for your kid. Are you buying the dog for your kid? I recommend toy breeds if that's the case.
Although the dog in the photo is safe to be around kids, a smaller toy breed has advantages. Toy breeds are perfect for your kid.
A smaller breed is also easier to maintain. Eat less food, poop less, easier to bathe, and live longer than big dogs.
I recommend the Maltese.
Maltese is small, white, has straight hair, doesnt shed alot, doesnt cause allergy or asthma, and lively. More importantly, it is extremely cute.

golden retrievers can be trained to help the needy.
i.e seeing eye dogs...
however, all animals have feelings. im sure if you manage to piss if off enough, it can also turn aggressive.

I agree with the person who said you should get a small dog.
big dog = big poop = big trouble
personally i find yorkshire terriers nice.
large dogs like retrievers may be hard to control for a kid, unless they are well trained. at least don't get a large MALE dog, unless you're prepared to train them well, OR you don't mind them "humping" your leg while you're entertaining guests at your home. -
if you have a maid at home, go on and buy a big dog.
To me, GR is cuter than maltese.
Grs are more lively. -
