Today I was at the kopitiam when I buy nasi ayam I say makan... the lady instead cannot hear talk english to me... Then I order drink and the lady tok english to me... the entire eating time I tok chinese but Everyone talk english to me... DO I FREAKIN LOOK LIKE A ABC!!!??? Is it my dressing or what!? Everyone wear formal office wear what why talk to me ONLY IN ENGLAND!? I feel like giving them a flying kick and show them I'm the dragon people... with the dragon blood... THen punch them and shout... WO BU SHI DONG YA BIN FU!!!!

are you very fair skinned and/or have very curly hair?
I encounter such cases so frequently that i too am guessing do i not look like an obvious chinese.This is what i observed,the person serving me will talk to the few chinese in the queue infront of me in mandarin,when it is my turn,suddenly the person will switch to speaking english to me.Maybe it is because i am way too fair skinned compared to the normal chinese skin tone,but well i still think i have pretty obvious chinese traits face feature. -
The lady mistook you for a PRC, and decided to infuriate you by speaking to you in english.

What irritates me is that I order my food in dialects, and I get replies in Mandarin. When I conformed and spoke Mandarin, they friggin gets my orders wrong! Soup nooldes becomes dry noodles!! Doesn't 'soup' and 'dry' in Mandarin sound almost the same, and especially when the coffeshop is a little noisey? Crap!
Hokkien or Cantonese is more obviously different between dry and wet noodles! -
