Hi people! need some help here.
whenever i on my computer right, there will be this message going "CPU fan fails to boot. Computer will shut down in 5 seconds. Press F2 to continue boot"
I was wondering if there would be any negative effects of me starting the com with this error? I mean, would that furthur damage my com thru overheating or would it like (silly as it may sound) explode? Or would it simply shut down when it overheats?
Secondly, how much would repairs cost? Would it be in - house?

Then I ask you, if it says it fails to boot, but does the fan still turn on?

buy a new cpu fan or buy a new computer.

you are talking about the big cpu fan? then it shouldnt be a problem. Processor fan more important.
if your processor fan doesnt run, your processor chip will overheat and damage your motherboard, either that, your whole computer will auto shut down. -

btw, if ya running a P4 system, better just send yr pc to a computer shop and get them to help you change the fan. 10 mins of running your computer w/o the fan running is enuff to fry that cpu. -

if u got no time and in need of use for the computer atm, the njust open the side panel of your tower and place a fan next to it to blow some 'cool air' lor..

open up your computer case, look at the fan, there should be a small bundle of wires comeing out of the side of the fan, it MUST be connected to a small plug thing on the motherboard, there is only one such plug that fits it. The only possibility I can think of is the thing got unplugged.

Erm just for your info, if you plan to change your, try using the Thermaltake's Blue Orb. I replaced my old P4 CPU fan with the new fan because the old one's noise was unbearable(Ultra noisy). Change liao no noise prob ler. Very quiet! Good for those who like to use com at night.
And i currently dun hab any problems with the fan now. Oh btw, i think it costs around 60-100 bucks, very expensive, but well worth it! Try it! 
Oh yah, make sure ur com casing can fit it, as far as i can tell, it is very big, in the sense that it is much wider than most CPU fans. Height im not too sure.
