i noe..this is in the wrong forum..but i thought i might get help here faster...here it goes..my reformat disk is spoilt and now i need to reformat my computer how...?

Take it to a shop... they have the disc... but it will cost you $$$...

anyway to download the files? becos i can also borrow the disk from my friend but..it will take time..

oh comfirm hard disk...not first time liao lol..previous time all reformat with my recover disk...now..recover disk give way..wtf...so now i still trying to borrow a disk...erm...the problem is a BSOD that does not allow me to go into desktop..

Your hardware seems to have problem though. Most probably it's the HDD. Yea, i guess it right. if the computer is running Win95 or 98SE by default...its hardware CMOS settings might not have the "boot from CDROM" option...so to get that option...have to do BIOS flash upgrade 1st with a floppy.

A small tip. When you are running the BIOS upgrade, make sure it has continuous power supply. Else you end up with a totalled bios flash.Originally posted by Xcert:a little more to add...

By right, most PCs should have the boot from CDRom option somewhere. So it doesn't really warrant a flash upgrade. -

Why the need to flash BIOS?
Just set basic BIOS in Advance category to seek CDROM before anything else - that's it.
Most laptops and PC are set to seek CDROM or FDD 1st. -

If your PC is more than 3 years old, forget about running VISTA.

if its there...good...then no need to flash new BIOS in...just change the boot option and use the CD.
but if its not...then also no need to panic...just have to flash in...if not how to use the CD to boot?unless threadstarter can find a floopy boot disk for that purpose...

PCs with BIOS that has no boot options, are best left alone. It will likely not be supported by Windows XP or ME...
Most BIOS flashes are to upgrade options in processor voltages and multipliers, and RAM settings, and or Advance Power Managements...
Hardly came across anything that includes Boot Options???
