I only practice this with food stuff, utility goods, and generally things that have shelf life.
Otherwise, I'm a lazy fellow... I'd grab the first one I see and off I go....

When ordering food at hawker centers, you'd say 4 Popiah please, and then he or she will ask "Eat ah?".
One time I got so tired of the same question and answer, I said; "No, throw away one..."
The popiah vendor laughed out loud.... luckily hawker has humour... -
